Headshot main

Thank you for stopping by my personal website. I’m glad you’re here.

My company:
I bring together all of my business and creative career paths as the Founder of Double or Nothing Media:
• I craft products, programs, and projects that make a difference;
• I build the business plans that make what I craft financially sustainable;
• I tell the stories that matter about the people, places, and products that inspire me.

A little about me:
I use my business skills to create passion projects that build a better world. I’ve been called the happiest New Yorker, and I try hard to live up to that title every day. I live my life spherically, in many different directions. I’m an award-winning author, freelance journalist, biomimicry scientist, and product developer. I’m also an environmental, health, and arts advocate, as well as a theater and film producer. Inspired by ancient wisdom and modern technology, I’m a proud alumnae of the University of Pennsylvania (BA), the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia (MBA), and Arizona State University (Graduate program in Biomimicry). I’m a proliferator of goodness, an opener of doors, friend to animal, and fan of creative work in all its wondrous forms.

A little more about me:
My career has stretched across Capitol Hill, Broadway theatre, performing arts, education, nonprofit fundraising, health and wellness, and Fortune 500 companies in retail, media, entertainment, technology, and financial services. I’ve been a product developer and product manager, theater manager, strategic consultant, marketer, voice over artist, teacher, and fundraiser. In every experience, I’ve used my sense of and respect for elegant design to develop meaningful products, services, programs, and events.

While building a business career, I also built a strong portfolio as a journalist, novelist, freelance writer, interviewer, presenter, and public speaker. My writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Inside History Magazine, Natural History Magazine, the Biomimicry Institute, PBS.org, Royal Media Partners publications, and The Motley Fool on a wide range of topics including science, business, technology, health, education, culture, and lifestyle. I have also been an invited speaker at SXSW, Teach for America, Avon headquarters, Games for Change, NYU, Columbia University, Hunter College, City University of New York, and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. The first book in my young adult book series, Emerson Page and Where the Light Enters, was published in November 2017. I’m currently working on the second book in the series.

A recovering multi-tasker, I’m equally at home in front of my Mac, on my yoga mat, walking my rescue dog, Phineas, traveling with a purpose, or practicing the high-art of people watching. I also cut up small bits of paper and put them back together as a collage artist.

I look forward to the conversation.

    • Wow! What a great idea. I am working on an ebook (right at this very moment actually!) and I wonder if that would be a good marketing push for the book. Thanks so much for the idea and of course I will let you know when it will be.

  5. Hi Christa,

    Terry Watkins just sent me this link. Everything looks so cool, I am so happy for you. Glad you got your yoga space and I couldn’t agree with you more about ramen. Los Angeles made me fall in love with it, and had no idea what a huge bowl of fresh ramen could do to lift your spirits during a common cold or a damp day. Hope your family is great and wish you all the best.

    • Hi John-Anthony! Thank you so much for checking out the blog and for your note. I’ll have to thank Terry for passing along the link! Ramen is a magical dish! I’m looking forward to trying out some more places around New York.

      Hope all is well with you and that you are having a wonderful holiday season. 🙂

  18. I’m in process revealing a varied background of business, music biz, percssionist, lifetime writer into a profile of acceptability. The divergence of background interests never bothered me as I believed it to be experience/dues to pay for authenticity in characterization.
    Sounds heady from hear but it’s all part of something bigger than I.
    I will dig into my own profile and emerge the music, the tv work, playwriting, and even the gourmet food biz all to round out a divergent..writer.
    Thx for the reveal. Ron
