Inspired: Behind-the-Scenes Photos at the Sing After Storms Table Read

The tremendously talented and stunning actors and production team members of Sing After Storms all got together last week for the table read and I wanted to give you a peek behind the curtain. All photos courtesy of the lovely Marita La Monica: Sing After Storms Table Read Photos

Inspired: Leap From Fear to Grace with an Eraser

“If we would only see that all limitations are self-imposed and chosen out of fear, we would leap at once into the arms of grace.” ~ Adyashanti

Is there something holding you back from doing something you really want to do? Too often I find that my roadblocks are internal. To overcome them, I close my eyes and imagine the roadblock—fear of failure, a lack of confidence, worry—as a physical object. I erase it, one piece at a time, until the canvas of my mind is blank. Then, I open my eyes and leap into the work at-hand.

Aren’t we all in beta? Living, experimenting, evaluating, adjusting. We’re testing new ideas, new ways of being, doing, and seeing. My friend Amanda recently introduced to her friend Marsha, whose Twitter bio wittily reads “still in beta”. For me, that’s the only way to live. Let’s go have an adventure!

I am beyond amazed by the incredibly talented team that has hopped on board the Sing After Storms train. When they arrived last night for dinner and the table read, I felt an instant surge of electricity. Talented, committed, and passionate, I am humbled and honored to be on this journey with them. They make me laugh, cry, and learn, over and over again. I will be saying thank you a million times over for this project for many, many days to come. Let’s do this.

Inspired: Table Read of Sing After Storms is Tonight

Today I’m putting on my theater director hat for the first time. I’m whipping up sangria and a Mexican buffet for the talented 15-member cast and production team of our play, Sing After Storms. For the very first time, everyone’s going to meet and we’ll run the table read to hear all of the actors say their lines. I’m off my rocker with excitement. This huge step forward feels amazing because we’re all taking it together. Go team!

You can grab your tickets to one of our shows in June at a 50% discount ($10) by going to http://www.eventbrite.com/e/sing-after-storms-friends-family-and-fans-discount-tickets-11129220799.

Inspired: Sweet Release

I’ve often regretted holding on. I’ve never regretted letting go of anything. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of letting go – of expectations, bad habits (great and small), insecurities, and stuffy routines. The release itself isn’t scary; it’s the anticipation of the release that can scare us into inaction. I don’t have any magic formula to get through that phase. We need a Nike attitude about it – just do it. Decide. Choose. Let go. Change. Act.

If you’re worried about dreaming too big, this is a good mantra to help squash that fear. In the end, you become the very best version of yourself and get exactly the dream you want. A true win-win. Go after those too big, too beautiful, too dangerous, too risky dreams. You deserve every bit of them.

Be stubborn about where you’re going and open about the paths you take to get there. There will be bumps, falls, scrapes, and bruises along the way. Those are not reasons to abandon the journey. They’re there to show you just how much the destination means to you. And when you look back on that long road, those mishaps will be the moments that taught you the most.
