So this is how the Easter Bunny stays in such good shape. A little rabbit asana. Hoppy Easter, everyone! Enjoy the day.
I tell wonder-filled stories about hope and healing

Change doesn’t happen by accident. It happens by action. If you don’t act, someone else will and then you’ll live in a world designed by someone else rather than one that you designed. You deserve better than that. Build your own best circumstances. Keep what you love; change what you don’t.

On Sunday, I went to Long Island City and saw an apartment that was so hideous I wouldn’t feel comfortable having a goldfish live there much less my dog, Phineas. It was a second-floor walk-up for $1800 on a street that I am fairly certain could be renamed crack alley. After giving the dim-witted broker a piece of my mind, I high-tailed it back to the subway as fast as my legs would carry me. I had two choices: I could cry or write. So I wrote this: “I will find a way to put this stress to use. I am on a treasure hunt and at the end of it, Phin and I will find a great place to settle in. It will be worth it.”

I’m thrilled to let you know that today I am guest hosting the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Twitter Chat on stress reduction techniques for caregivers. We’ll get together for an hour from 2pm—3pm Eastern. Ask questions, get tips, share stories, or just follow along via this link: http://www.tchat.io/rooms/careadvchat or with the hashtag #careADvchat. Tweet you there!
Throughout this crazy hunt for a new home, Carole King’s song Beautiful keeps running through my mind. “You’ve got to get up every morning with a smile in your face, and show the world all the love in your heart.” I keep smilin’ and lovin’. It’s so much better than the alternative.

Life’s ups and downs are unpredictable and difficult to understand in the moment. We’ve got to learn from our hardships and create solutions so others don’t encounter the same obstacles. Many hands (and hearts and minds) lighten the load, and goodness knows the load of life is H-E-A-V-Y. Let’s carry it together. Boston, we are with you.

I want you to get angry, and don’t wallow in it. Use it. Anger is energy and it’s fueled incredible changes: the Civil Rights Movement, women’s suffrage, gay marriage, and every nonprofit with a passionate mission. Some of the very best things I’ve ever done in my life started because I was angry – Compass Yoga, Sing After Storms, Chasing Down the Muse, my education. Anger builds fire and fire transforms everything around it. Let it motivate and inspire you to build a better world.

There are many things that hold us back from doing what we want to do. Most of them are self-made and the chief among them is focus. We are bombarded with opportunities, ideas, and doubts. Most of it is noise. We’ve got to find a way to turn down the volume on that noise and turn up the volume on our own dreams. We’ve got to say no to the noise and yes to what moves us forward. Lists help me. Every day I make a list of three things that I must get done. That list keeps me from wasting time and forces focus. How do you stay focused?
